Experienced first responder therapist and veteran. From 2008 to 2013, Brenda worked as a mental health first responder in the Emergency Services department at the Community Mental Health Center (Lincoln, Nebraska). In 2006, as a requirement for a Master in Forensic Science (MFS) degree, she completed a 90-hour internship at the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office (Kansas City, Missouri), attending crime scenes with death investigators and observing autopsies. She is also a military veteran (U.S. Navy). Brenda is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR therapist and EMDRIA Approved Consultant as well as Board Certified TeleMental Health provider (BC-TMH). Priority for treatment is given to first responders (e.g., law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, 911 dispatchers).

Evidence-based treatment approaches include EMDR therapy, Written Exposure Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Ego State therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and others. Services are provided in our CARF-accredited outpatient treatment program with a focus on trauma, PTSD, and substance use. Services are only provided via telehealth to individuals who are physically located in Nebraska.

Trauma-informed services are provided in a way that is safe, supportive, and empowering. Primary treatment goals are to help you: identify & reduce triggers; decrease anxiety, depression, and dissociation; improve relationships with yourself and others; increase your overall life satisfaction. My focus is to help individuals heal from difficult life situations. People often face overwhelming challenges. No matter what happens in life, we always have choices. During the first sessions, we'll get to know each other, discuss your goals for therapy, and develop a plan to help you achieve balance and serenity in your life.
